Kris Kristofferson (1936-2024) was an American singer-songwriter and actor, and a leading figure of the 1970s outlaw country movement. A Rhodes scholar and former Army helicopter pilot, he brought a new literary depth to Nashville songwriting with classics like "Me and Bobby McGee", "Help Me Make It Through the Night" and "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", before building a parallel career as a film actor.
