Guitar Tab Workshop

Tommy Johnson (1896–1956) was a pioneering Delta blues musician known for his haunting falsetto voice, masterful guitar playing, and influential songwriting. Born in Terry, Mississippi, Johnson was one of the first blues artists to record in the Delta region, with songs like "Canned Heat Blues," "Big Road Blues," and "Cool Drink of Water Blues" becoming classics. His innovative guitar techniques, including complex rhythms and bottleneck slide, left a lasting impact on the blues genre. Like Robert Johnson, Tommy was associated with the myth of selling his soul to the devil, adding to his mystique. Despite his relatively short recording career, his music profoundly influenced later blues and rock musicians.
