Skip James was an American Delta blues singer, guitarist, and pianist known for his haunting voice and unique fingerpicking guitar style. Born in 1902 in Mississippi, he recorded a few influential songs in the 1930s before disappearing from the music scene. Rediscovered in the 1960s folk revival, his dark, emotional music gained new recognition.
