Mississippi John Hurt

Mississippi John Hurt (1893–1966) was an American blues and folk musician known for his gentle voice, intricate fingerpicking guitar style, and warm, melodic approach to the blues. Born in Avalon, Mississippi, Hurt recorded a handful of tracks in 1928, including "Frankie," "Spike Driver Blues," and "Candy Man," but faded into obscurity until the 1960s folk revival. Rediscovered during this time, he captivated audiences with his unique blend of blues, folk, and spirituals, becoming a beloved figure in American roots music. Hurt's music is celebrated for its timeless, soothing quality and has influenced generations of guitarists.
