John Jackson

John Jackson (1924–2002) was an American Piedmont blues musician renowned for his intricate fingerpicking guitar style and deep knowledge of traditional folk and blues music. Born in Virginia, Jackson learned to play by ear, drawing inspiration from early country blues legends like Blind Blake and Blind Boy Fuller. He spent much of his life as a gravedigger and farmer before being "rediscovered" during the folk and blues revival of the 1960s. Jackson's warm personality and masterful playing made him a beloved performer, with songs like "Candy Man" and "Railroad Bill" showcasing his skill and storytelling. He became an important figure in preserving traditional blues for future generations.
