Lightnin Hopkins

Lightnin Hopkins

Lightnin’ Hopkins (1912–1982) was a legendary American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, renowned for his distinctive Texas blues style. Born in Centerville, Texas, Hopkins blended raw, emotive vocals with a rhythmic, improvisational guitar technique, often performed solo with a foot-stomping beat. A prolific artist, he recorded hundreds of songs, including classics like "Mojo Hand," "Baby Please Don’t Go," and "Trouble in Mind." His music captured themes of hardship, love, and resilience, reflecting the African American experience in the South. Hopkins' influence on blues, rock, and folk is immense, inspiring artists from Jimi Hendrix to Townes Van Zandt.
